What to Expect
What should I expect during a session?
The first session will last 90 minutes. During this session I will take in-depth medical history. You will be able to tell me why you are seeking reflexology as a treatment and for what specific condition. This will enable me to customise/tailor the treatment and care plan to suit your personal needs. You are at the centre of all decisions and care planning at all times. All information that you provide will be treated with the utmost confidentiality. I will ask you to sign a GDPR form.
Following the consultation I will ask you to sit on a very comfortable reclining chair. I will ask you to take your footwear off to gain access to your feet. I will cover you with a blanket as treatment and relaxation can make you feel cold. I will apply a reflexology wax to your feet or hands, this helps to minimise any friction that could be caused by skin contact alone. I also have vegan products if you prefer.
During this first treatment I will carry out a general session covering all body systems on the foot. This will provide me with the knowledge, insight and understanding of your feet. This in turn will allow me to work your body systems and allow me to tailor treatment for any subsequent sessions.
We will discuss further treatments at the end of the first session. These subsequent sessions can be carried out over days, weeks or months. These sessions will last 60 minutes.
I can also work on hands if you prefer.
I will always ask you for feedback after a session and at the start of the subsequent sessions. This will enable me to gain further insight in to how you have reacted to the treatment.
What to expect after the treatment
Reflexology encourages your body to find its homeostatic state/balance.
You may experience some of the following after a treatment:
- Deep Relaxation
- More energy
- More frequent urination and elimination
- Feeling emotional
- Some or none of the above
These are usually experienced up to 48 hours after treatment. These are healing responses and a sign that the treatment is working to balance and rid the body of toxins. They are transient symptoms.
What should I do after the treatment?
I will always encourage you to drink plenty of water following a treatment to help aid elimination. You will also be encouraged to take time out for yourself after a treatment. This we know is not always possible, Other advice will be given on an individualised basis.
